Characters with individual motivations and backstories abound throughout the Lord of the Rings franchise. Numerous characters operate in the background, setting off events. This pattern is not broken in The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. Though it is reasonable to presume that the movie’s events would mostly focus on the conflict, the trailers have alluded to more significant occasions that might be included. Saruman’s appearance in the Japanese trailer is the only thing that highlights this.
The War of the Rings contains a large cast of characters from the first series, even though it takes place two centuries before the events of The Lord of the Rings films. Ultimately, a large number of characters in the franchise possess immortality or a lengthy lifespan. Among them is Sauron, who has been since the First Age of Middle Earth. According to J. R. R. Tolkien’s history, Sauron is not directly involved in the conflict and is not in possession of a body at that time. He does, however, have holdings in many of the areas that surround Rohan. Furthermore, he is still looking for the One Ring at this time.
Where Does Rohan Fit in the Lord of the Rings Universe?
There has not been any indication that Sauron is interested in Rohan. He has not been mentioned as accomplishing anything particular during the years between the nation’s creation and the conflict, either. Rather, Sauron is advancing evil throughout the planet. The Misty Mountains encircle Rohan, and Sauron has done much to heighten their danger. In addition to settling there, orcs have been engaged in combat with opposing armies. They ultimately fight the Shire people when Helm Hammerhand is in power.
Furthermore, Rohan has supported Gondor as an ally ever since the kingdom’s founding. Because of Sauron’s long-standing hostility toward Gondor, the Nazgul hunt individuals in Gondor. Later, Suaron encouraged the Easterlings to attack. Sauron seemed to be generally against Gondor becoming stronger. This also makes him hostile to Rohan. Though Sauron is uninterested in the fight, he might have a preference for the Dunlendings. In the War of the Rings, he even enlists the Dunlendings.
The One Ring is the most important item to Sauron. By this point in the chronology, the dwarf rings have been destroyed, the elf rings have been contained, and he has given the Rings of Power to humans. But centuries ago, Sauron lost the One Ring. It is with Gollum throughout the fight. People do not realize that he is in the Misty Mountains. Sauron is still using all the resources at his disposal to find the ring.
The orc in the trailer who mentions rings and Mordor is most likely employed by Sauron. There is good reason to think Sauron has dispatched soldiers in search of the One Ring. Apart from the possibility that it is a ring, people who are looking probably have no idea what they are looking for. There is no need for Sauron to tell any of them. It would expose an excessive amount of frailty and inspire others to look for the One Ring on their own. Sauron wants the ring returned as soon as possible, in a whisper.
The history of Middle Earth and the promotional materials for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim both contain numerous clues that suggest Sauron will be featured in the next film. But as of right now, it is still unknown how big of a part he plays. Although he is unaware of it now, Sauron will later benefit from the events of the conflict. Rather, the only reason he would be in the film is to pursue the One Ring, which is his top aim.
